General Information
Parents’ Room
The ward’s parents’ room provides a place where parents/carers of children on the ward can take a break and there is a microwave and fridge for your convenience. Water and squash are available at any time in the parents’ room.
A local charity group called ‘Action for Sick Children’ provides a supply of tea and coffee for resident parents.
Donations, however small, are welcome if you are able. Please leave your donation in one of the envelopes provided and then give it to the nurses on the ward.
Wi-Fi
The hospital has free Wi-Fi for all patients and visitors. The username is MKHospital_Public.
Food
We offer varied menu of dishes to encourage children to eat. We also provide Kosher and Halal meals for children who require them. Staff can arrange food for special diets.
The meal schedule is:
Breakfast – 8:30am until 12:00pm
Lunch – 12:00pm
Supper – 5:00pm
Mothers who are breastfeeding babies aged under six months are provided with meals.
Car Parking
There is plenty of parking for parents and visitors available on the hospital site. Parking is paid for at one of the machines when you are ready to leave.
If your child is going to be in hospital for a long time, you can buy a parking permit which will reduce the cost. Please be aware it may not be possible to purchase a permit between 10pm and 6am.
There are child and parent parking spaces available in front of the Emergency Department but these spaces are limited.
Feedback – Friends & Family Test
The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that offers the opportunity for people who use NHS services to provide feedback on their experience. Listening to the views of patients and staff helps identify what is working well, what can be improved and how. Please complete this form to help us to improve our services.
