A midwife, nurse or doctor has spoken to you regarding concerns hat we have about a baby, child or young person in your care, or you as a young person. This leaflet contains information about the process that will now take place.
A referral has been made to Milton Keynes Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
The referral enables sharing of information between agencies. It may be that you have requested support and that we have made a referral for early help from one of Milton Keynes Children and Family Practices or because child protection concerns have been raised. If you have a question about this, please speak to the nurse or doctor providing care to you and your family. As a health care provider, we have a duty of care to you and your child.
The law states that if there are concerns about any child or young person then information about these concerns must be shared in order to assess if the child or young person is at risk of harm or if
extra support is required for you and your family. As part of that process we have shared information with Milton Keynes MASH, your GP, Health Visitor and/or School Nurse. This is to ensure that Health care professional involved with your family are aware of the concerns raised by Milton Keynes Hospital.
Making all Healthcare professionals aware of safeguarding concerns raised enables us to work in partnership with us to provide you and your family with the support and advice you require. Milton Keynes MASH will now consider the referral we have made. They may undertake an assessment of your child and family’s needs and may contact you to gain more understanding of your
circumstances. They may contact other professionals such as your health visitor and ask them to offer you support.
They may simply write to you to advise you of our referral and to signpost you to further support or resources that you can access in the community.
All agencies within Milton Keynes aim to work in partnership with you to support children and young people within their families wherever possible. If you are still worried and want more information you can talk to your nurse or doctor, you can also contact Milton Keynes MASH directly.
