Ward Companions

We require passionate and outgoing individuals to provide companion support to patients. You might be assisting the team with delivering meals and providing encouragement to eat, reading the newspaper, or providing a hand massage. Allowing staff, relatives and loved ones to form a connection that is not just focusing on their health and hospital stay

Other tasks could include:

  • Pro-actively befriending patients, their relatives and visitors
  • Supporting the team at meal times, sitting and encouraging patients to eat in consultation with staff
  • Assisting with activity sessions, which could include playing board games either on a one-to-one basis or small group, puzzles, and crosswords
  • Providing the ward with a regular snack round in the morning or evening in consultation with the staff
  • Encouraging patients to complete surveys and comments cards, providing us with vital feedback about their hospital stay
  • Assisting with patient correspondence on wards (e.g. Letters to Loved Ones)
