Nourishing Milky Drinks

Nourishing drinks provide you with extra energy and calories as well as fluid to keep you hydrated. Nourishing drinks do not replace meals but can be used in-between meals as an alternative snack.

Here are a few ideas.

Strawberry Cooler
• 150mls of full cream milk
• ½ a carton of full cream yoghurt
• 100g of fresh/tinned strawberries
• Liquidise all ingredients together and use sugar to taste
This provides; 214 calories and 9g of protein

Chocca Chocolate
• 200mls warm full cream milk
• 2 scoops of ice cream
• 2 heaped tablespoons of drinking chocolate
• Blend together and a swirl of cream to serve
This provides; 429 calories and 11g protein

Honey Warmer
• 200mls of warm full cream milk
• 2tablespoons of milk powder
• 1 tablespoon of honey
• Sugar to taste
This provides; 225 calories and 10g protein

Banana Shake
• 200mls of full cream milk
• 1 small banana
• 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
• Liquidise all the ingredients together
• Top with a squirt of cream
This Provides; 336 calories and 9g protein

Chocolate Dream
• 200mls full cream milk
• 2 tablespoons of milk powder
• 2 teaspoons of coffee powder
• 2 heaped tablespoons of drinking chocolate
• 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
• Blend together and top with cream
This provides; 317 calories and 13g protein

Other ideas:
• Try flavoured ice creams, milk shake powders, and syrups
• Experiment with different fruits, either tinned or fresh
• Add sugar, honey, jam, peanut butter or syrup for extra calories
• Try cream, yoghurt, ice cream, condensed or evaporated milk
• Use malted drink powders e.g. Horlicks ®, Ovaltine ® instead of drinking
chocolate
• Try using enriched milk – 4 to 6 tablespoons of milk powder in 1 pint of full
cream milk
