Overseas Visitors

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

If you are from an EU country and have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) please show this when attending the hospital. This card allows us to reclaim the cost of your treatment from your home country and if it is valid, stops us from charging you. If you are visiting from the EU and you do not have an EHIC you will be charged for your hospital care unless you can obtain a provisional replacement certificate from your home country health authority. (Excluding Accident and Emergency care).

Impact of Brexit

Trusts must continue to support current reciprocal healthcare arrangements (EHIC, PRC, S1, S2) and apply cost recovery regulations until further advice from Government on how the system may change.
