Appointment types

The Clinician will review your referral or follow up consultation needs, before selecting the appropriate appointment type. As well as face-to-face consultations, appointments can now be held by telephone or by video consultation using Microsoft Teams.

Your appointment letter will include this information and if a video consultation is offered, instructions will be included on how to access this appointment from your desktop, laptop, mobile phone, or other device.

Virtual appointments such as telephone and video consultations not only enable you to avoid unnecessary travel time and parking costs, but they also allow you to attend your appointment from the comfort of your own home or workplace. Reducing the number of face-to-face appointments also reduces the risk of obtaining a Hospital Acquired Infection, whilst improving our carbon footprint.

Should it be difficult for you to attend a face-to-face appointment, or to access your virtual appointment, please contact the Central Booking Office who will liaise with the service that you have been referred to, to seek a more suitable alternative for your needs.
