Patient Stories – Jaxxon

“Jaxxon was unexpectedly born at 32+2 weighing 4lbs 8. After a quick delivery, he was taken to NNU where our journey began.

Jaxxon needed transferring to Oxford for a week for review and monitoring with the neurosurgical team. When we came back to MKUH and it felt like we were coming home.

We were shown and supported with so many daunting things like holding, feeding, changing, and doing medication for our tiny boy. This was the scariest time of our life made much easier by the support and comfort we received by all staff and facilities on the unit.

The team also supported my parents who were then able to support us even better.

At 37+5 weeks, after a 38 day hospital stay, we felt like experts and were all ready for our discharge to start our new family life at home.”
