Outpatient Respiratory and Amputee Physiotherapy

The outpatient respiratory and amputee physiotherapy team are specialist physiotherapists and specialist physiotherapy support workers. The team assess and treat people in an outpatient setting with a variety of respiratory (lung) conditions and provide outpatient rehabilitation following lower limb amputation and rehabilitation after an inpatient admission to Intensive Care.

If you have been diagnosed with a respiratory condition physiotherapy can help to manage your symptoms. Conditions that physiotherapy can help with include, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which includes emphysema and bronchitis), asthma, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, and interstitial lung disease.

If you are breathless because you have been told that you hyperventilate or have a breathing pattern disorder physiotherapy can help, see below.

Milton Keynes University Hospital does not have a limb fitting centre but provides outpatient physiotherapy following amputation.

More information on rehabilitation after intensive care can be found below.
