Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2022

Date: 26/05/2022

This week marked Creativity and Wellbeing Week, a national event celebrating the power of creativity and culture to improve our health and wellbeing. The event included a variety of both patient-facing and staff activities.

Helen Snaith, our Meaningful Activities Facilitator, and her team were and about throughout the week, visiting wards with information and delivering sessions to patients, including paper quilling and clay marking. To read more about Helen and the importance of meaningful activities, click here.

In support of this work and, a variety of wellbeing activities were offered to staff in the marquee near Eaglestone Restaurant.

The morning kicked off with yoga and meditation sessions run by local instructor, Maya Dattani, and tea, coffee and pastries were on offer in the mornings and afternoons to encourage staff to take a break.

Arts for Health joined us later on to offer some mindful making sessions. Our first group took part in concrete poetry. Inspired by the beat poetry movement, concrete poetry emphasises non-linguistic elements in its meaning, for example, a typeface that creates a visual image of the topic. During the second session, staff were invited to create collages that depicted things that brought them joy or peace.

Thank you to everyone who took part in celebrating Creativity and Wellbeing Week.
