Covid-19 swab pod relocation
Our current Covid-19 screening facility, located in the area outside of our Cardiology department, will be moving from Wednesday 9 March. The swab pods will be relocated to the area marked below in Car Park B, the car park closest to where the units are currently housed. This move is to free up the space outside Cardiology ready for the installation of our new state-of-the-art Cardiac Cath Lab to increase our diagnostic imaging capacity.
The two new units will arrive on-site on Tuesday 8th, with electrical and furnishing works to operationalise the cabins taking place on the Wednesday. The former units will then be removed from the site. While this move takes place, the testing facility will be closed to all staff, patients and visitors on Wednesday 9th and will re-open in the revised location on Thursday 10th.
With the new swab pod located within an existing car park, we will be increasing the time allowed for free parking from 15 minutes to 30 minutes in Car Park B only. This will enable patients to drive in for their test and exit without charge. Please note, this extension does not apply to any other car park across the site and remains at 15 minutes.
Access into and out of Car Park B, the Cancer Centre and Cardiology will be maintained during these works, with colleagues from our Estates and Security teams on-hand to support with any queries.
