2023 CQC Adult in-patient survey results published

Date: 21/08/2024

The 2023 Care Quality Commission (CQC) Adult in-patient survey results were published today (August 21, 2024).

Over 440 patients who received care at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) responded to the survey, providing their feedback on everything from the quality of care to the communication patients and their families received when leaving the hospital. This equates to a response rate of 38.5 %

The results were very similar to those of the 2022 survey, with patients highlighting issues such as noise at night and ensuring that staff involved patients in decisions about their care being highlighted.

The Trust is already working to address this. A new ‘Night-Mode’ initiative was launched in June 2023, aiming to combat some of the biggest causes of noise at night to ensure that patients can rest and sleep undisturbed. This includes reviewing the need for patient observations at night, maintaining a quiet approach when entering or exiting the ward and asking other patients to put their phones on silent from 8pm.

New motion-sensor LED lighting has been rolled out across the hospital. It is hoped this ‘softer’ lighting will enable patients to sleep better, both during the day and at night.

Feedback is important to the hospital and we actively encourage our patients and their families to tell us about their care and experience. There are several ways in which you can share your views, including:

  • Directly with our staff
  • Through the NHS Friends & Family Test (FFT)
  • Via our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)
  • On our social media channels

More information on providing your feedback can be found on our website: https://www.mkuh.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/tell-us-about-your-care.
