Outpatients

Hospital appointments

If you are asked to attend an outpatient appointment but do not feel you need to see a Stoma Nurse at this time, please let us know as we can use your appointment time for another patient who may be in need.

Please be assured that, should you need an appointment in the future, or if you have any queries regarding your stoma, you can contact the Stoma Team by leaving a message on their answerphone (tel: 01908 996 951) and they will call you back or by emailing: [email protected]

Our outpatient clinics are by appointment only and held on a Thursday morning (10:00 – 12:00) and Friday afternoon (13:30 – 15:30).

If you are registered with the hospital MyCare, you will receive a letter and text confirming your appointment date and time.  Appointment duration is 20 minutes unless previously agreed.

If you would like to register with MyCare, please follow this link: https://patients.mkhospital.nhs.uk/

The location of your appointment is in the Outpatient Clinic area.  Please enter through the Main Entrance and turn right, head toward the Pharmacy.  Pass the Pharmacy on your left, go through the double doors and ‘check in’ with our Outpatient Reception team (directly in front of you). Once you have ‘checked in’, one of our Specialist Stoma Nurses will call you.  We aim to keep to your clinic appointment time, but sometimes patients require additional time to deal with unforeseen circumstances.  Please bear with us if we are running a little behind schedule, it will only ever be due to patient need.

Home visit appointments

Once discharged from hospital, we aim for your first two appointments to be at home.

Dates for your home visit appointments will be confirmed by your Stoma Nurse.  Please note that clinical need, traffic, etc can require flexibility around appointment times, so specific timings for this service are not offered.

Telephone appointments

If you would like an appointment with a Stoma Nurse but do not want to attend in person, you can request a telephone appointment. Many patients find this helpful as they can schedule this type of appointment around their daily commitments with minimal disruption.
