Research team attends Diabetes event

Milton Keynes University Hospital’s (MKUH) Research Team were proud to attend a Diabetes Information & Research event, an impactful gathering aimed at raising awareness and providing support for those affected by diabetes.

With attendees and support from other organisations such as Diabetes UK, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), and Health Innovation East, offered practical advice on crucial aspects of diabetes management, including diet, exercise, and mental health.

A highlight was the focus on ongoing research and clinical trials conducted at MKUH, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to advancing diabetes care. Attendees were able to learn about these research initiatives, with one participant sharing their personal experience as part of a study. The Diabetes Community Champion also spoke about their long-standing positive involvement in research, underscoring its transformative impact on care and outcomes.

The Trust’s Diabetic Eye Screening Team, also in attendance in collaboration with the R&D team, emphasised the importance of regular screenings in maintaining eye health for individuals with diabetes, reinforcing the significance of early detection and proactive healthcare.
