Prosthetists and Orthotists day 2021

Date: 08/09/2021

Today, Wednesday 8 September, we celebrated National Prosthetics and Orthotics Day. We wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our incredible team at MKUH who provide patients with the supply and fitting of orthotic devices, while improving their quality of life and preventing future problems from occurring.

The Orthotics department at Milton Keynes University Hospital supports patients of all ages, from newborn babies through to our elderly population. The core brief of the department is to choose, design and prescribe orthotic devices to support, control and improve the way the patient’s body or body segment works and to stop the symptoms that are being experienced.

The team has helped so many individuals to regain independence and skills, such as walking with orthotic support. A patient story shared today emphasised the incredible work our teams do – find out more about this story by clicking on the image below.

To end the day, our Chief Executive Joe Harrison and Director of Corporate Affairs Kate Jarman, visited our Orthotics department to meet with the team and find out more about what they do.
