NHS New Hospital Programme

Engagement Workshop

Dear Patient, Carers and Public members in our communities

The New Hospital Programme’s Transformation directorate would like to invite you to a 90-minute virtual workshop.

The New Hospital Programme is a joint programme by NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care. Improving NHS Infrastructure – NHS Recovery: NHS Recovery (dhsc.gov.uk)

We are running a number of patient and public workshops during 2023 to hear about your experiences using hospital services to help us improve the designs and layout of future hospitals. We are engaging with you to ensure those who use our hospitals are at the heart of the decisions being made.

The New Hospital Programme’s Transformation directorate is involved at every stage of the New Hospital Programme’s schemes, from early business cases, design and construction through to operational readiness and handover. Our single, national programme presents us with a chance to do things differently and with enthusiastic engagement we can all play a key role in transforming the way care is provided for years to come.

We will maximise use of innovative digital technology and smart buildings. Demand and capacity modelling will ensure services are the right size and in the right place and that we have a workforce with the skills to continue providing the best care.

We are working with hospital clinicians, estates teams, digital, IT and workforce colleagues as well as health regulators, the Royal Colleges and other professional bodies as, well as public and patient experience groups, to ensure we create the best designs and clinical standards for all our hospitals.

This online workshop will be in addition to any conversations you may already be having with your hospital trust.

We would like you to join us for this workshop if you have had recent experience of:

  • Having an operation.
  • An overnight stay following your surgery.
  • Day case surgery.
  • Caring for someone who has experienced having an operation.

At the workshop, we will give a summary and update on the New Hospital Programme. You will also be invited to share your thoughts as a user of health services. Your opinions will be taken forward for further discussion to impact the design of our new hospitals.

This is a VIRTUAL workshop and will be held online using MS Teams and taking place on:

Tuesday 27 June 2023

To help give everyone the opportunity to attend we will be delivering it as two 90-minute sessions and you can pick the one that best suits you:

Afternoon Session: 1pm to 2.30pm

Evening Session: 6pm to 7.30pm
