MKUH Celebrates 500th Robotic Surgery Case

Date: 09/05/2023

Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) has become the first hospital in the UK and Ireland to have completed 500 cases using the CMR Versius Surgical Robotic System.

The robot – first introduced in November 2019 – is used across a range of procedures including colorectal, gynaecology, general surgery, upper GI surgery and urology. As well as individual cases, it is used for combined cases between specialities including colorectal, gynaecology and urology.

“This is a fantastic milestone for our surgical teams, who have embraced this innovative technology wholeheartedly,” says Barrie Keeler, consultant colorectal surgeon at MKUH. “Our use of the Versius Surgical Robotic System has gone from strength to strength and its use has been proven to make a demonstrable positive impact to both patient outcomes and the experience that patients receive.”

Congratulations to the all the members of the Team involved in this successful programme, as well as the CMR implementation team, for reaching this major milestone.
