After the examination your bowel will be full of fluid. This will mean that you will need to go to the toilet very soon after the examination. Please do not leave the department until you have been to the toilet.
For the next few hours you may experience some discomfort. Keep active, drink hot drinks and use a hot water bottle to relieve the symptoms.
You may now eat and drink normally.
The results of your exam may take up to 2 weeks to reach the doctor who requested it. If it was your GP make an appointment to see him/her 2 weeks after your examination. If a hospital doctor requests the examination, the results will be discussed with you at your next outpatient visit.
