Pacemaker Follow Up Service

Please note, this page is printable by selecting the normal print options on your computer.

The importance of keeping your appointment

It is very important that you keep your allocated appointment. This allows us to maintain the pacemaker and make any changes that may be needed. Pacemaker checks are essential to your wellbeing and are a legal requirement if you drive.

What will happen during your appointment?
The physiologist will examine the site of implant. Please let them know if you are experiencing any discomfort or changes to the site. Your pacemaker will be checked to make sure that it is programmed and working properly. This document is uncontrolled once printed. Please check on the Trust’s Intranet site for the most up to date version.

What happens when your pacemaker needs its generator replacing?
The physiologists arrange a date for your generator to be replaced. We will give you an appointment for this before you leave. We will also give you a separate information leaflet to explain what happens on this day.

If you have any questions
Please ask any questions you have during your appointment. It may help to write any questions down before you attend.
