Your CT examination is now complete
You may now eat and drink as normal. Please make sure that you have plenty of fluids during the next 24 hours to ensure that you are well hydrated. It is possible you may experience some discomfort in your abdomen after the procedure, this is a common symptom and is due to the gas that we have put into your bowel during the examination. This gas will naturally be absorbed by the bowel, but please take some time to use the toilet before you leave the department. It may take some time for your bowel movements to return to normal due to the bowel preparation that you took for this procedure.

Please note that you may have some SLIGHT bleeding from your rectum following this procedure – if it persists or becomes worse – please see your GP as soon as possible.

If you do not receive the results of your examination within the next 10 working days, please contact the secretary of the Consultant who sent you for this procedure via the main hospital
switchboard on 01908 660033, if you do not have their direct number.
