After sedation

You have been assessed and treated in the Emergency Department today. As part of your treatment you have received medication to sedate you (to calm you and relax your muscles in order to carry out your procedure). It is very important that you follow the instructions in this leaflet carefully.

After sedation
You have received medication today which may affect your judgement, performance and motor skills for up to 24 hours.

For this reason you should:

  • Rest and remain in the company of an adult for the next 24 hours

During the next 24 hours you should not:

  • Drive or operate machinery
  • Sign legal documents
  • Drink alcohol

If you develop vomiting or are very drowsy call NHS 111. If you have any further queries, please contact:
