Work Experience team receives a gold award!
On Tuesday 12th December, Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) proudly received a gold award for the structure and quality of its work experience programmes from the Work Experience Quality Standard Award.
The work experience team were commended for providing excellent engagement with applicants before, during and after the placements were offered. They were also recognised for providing an extensive information package to young people at the end of the placement. In addition, the team provided next steps and a variety of sessions and talks from staff and ambassadors, that really helped challenge the students thinking and initiatives.
The Learning and Development team at MKUH have been running work experience programmes for many years, growing from approximately 10 placement areas to now having 25 placement areas. In 2023, they facilitated 150 work experience placements to students. The team that facilitate and run the programme help students to get the best out of their experience and get a better understanding of what it is like to work in the hospital. For instance, the team run a clinical work experience programme where students can visit the wards and talk to staff, allowing us to showcase what we do and how we do it. The feedback received from students who have taken part in the program has been described as ‘inspirational’.
The team’s dedication and perseverance to facilitate the next generation of healthcare professionals marks the Trust’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful and impactful work experience to students.
The work experience team would like to say a big thank you to all the teams who are involved in the programme and provide invaluable experiences to inspire our local MK students.
