Endoscopy Services at MKUH – Services temporarily unavailable
We are aware of an issue with some of the machines at the hospital which are used to wash and decontaminate our endoscopes (the flexible camera systems used in a variety of medical procedures). As a precautionary measure, we have temporarily suspended non-urgent endoscopy services while we work to resolve these issues. We expect this to take a few days to ensure that all equipment and infrastructure can be thoroughly tested. This issue was detected during the proactive routine safety testing we carry out.
The Trust is working with other NHS organisations to ensure a supply of endoscopes for urgent and cancer-related procedures and we will continue to work closely with our local health and care partners to minimise disruption for patients.
Patients that are affected will be contacted directly by the hospital and we will work to reschedule these appointments for as soon as possible.
We recognise the inconvenience this will cause and apologise to all patients affected. We will provide further updates via our website and social media channels as soon as more information is available.
