Celebrating Allied Health Professionals Day at MKUH

Date: 10/10/2023

Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Day 2023 is coming up on the 14th October.

To mark the day and recognise their amazing work, AHP teams will be holding events on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th October.

AHPs are the third-largest clinical workforce within the health and care. They have a vital role in supporting the NHS Long Term Plan. AHPs day, recognises the 14 allied health professions and the remarkable impact AHPs have on the delivery of high-quality care and experience to patients.

This year’s theme is: AHPs in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills.

To raise awareness, teams including our dieticians, occupational therapists, orthotists, physios, and radiographers will be holding stands to highlight the work they are doing and answer any questions that staff, patients, and visitors may have.

The events will take place in our marquee, adjacent to our Eaglestone Restaurant, from 10am – 3pm on both days. Some of the entertaining and interactive activities you can expect to see include checking your:

  • Senses including eyes, smell, taste and hearing.
  • Hand, arm, body and leg movements
  • Stress levels.

If that’s not enough:

  • Test your Xray eyes to spot the odd bone out!
  • Try out equipment to make life easier.

What do AHPs do?

AHPs at MKUH provide frontline services in different settings including inpatients, theatres, outpatients, and the community. Core Clinical and Surgery employ the different teams work alongside all divisions and specialities to facilitate the recovery, rehabilitation, and treatment of patients.
