Admin Appreciation Day – Namrata Kothari

There is no typical day for Namrata Kothari. As the Trust’s Patient Access Systems Manager she looks after several of our outpatient systems, including e-Referral, self check-in kiosks , our interpreting service and the letters transcription service.

‘It is a very varied role and every day can be quite different,’ says Namrata, who is based at the Trust’s offices in Witan Gate House and works closely with her line manager Nicola Jones (Patient Services Manager). ‘I often run regular reports for management meetings on a variety of topics including how well we are performing in areas like triage and advice and guidance. My systems knowledge allows me to extract and develop reports that give a very accurate picture of the situation in many areas of outpatients.

‘Although I am based at Witan Gate, I do get the opportunity to regularly come on to the main hospital site, which gives me a real buzz. I sometimes provide training to clinical and admin teams across the trust on specific issues related to the outpatient systems. Occasionally, things might not be working so well so I am able to troubleshoot and liaise with the IT Back Office team led by Amanda Tweeddale to eliminate any issues.’

Namrata also works with the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) around electronic referrals through the NHS e-RS system.

‘There are often meetings and discussions on how to make this pathway most effective for both patients and the Trust. It is very rewarding to be involved in these conversations, especially as all hospitals have a lot of people waiting for referral and treatment at the moment due to the backlog post-pandemic.’

She has worked for the Trust since 2016 and been based in several different locations – from the medical records office, to Oak House, the old education centre and now central Milton Keynes.

‘Witan Gate is a lovely environment to work in and because I frequently visit the hospital, I get the best of both worlds,’ she adds.
