Kitchen trolley

Please note, this page is printable by selecting the normal print options on your computer.

What is this equipment used for?

A trolley is used to assist you in transporting items around your home e.g. taking a meal from its preparation area to the eating area. It is especially useful if you have to use a walking aid such as a
stick or frame, which can make carrying items difficult. The trolley has a metal frame with 4 small wheels. There are 2 shelves on the trolley with the lower one slightly forward of the upper one so as not to impede walking. There are push handles on either side of the trolley, and the legs are adjustable in height.

How do you use this equipment?
Walk whilst pushing the trolley in front of you holding the pushing handles.

Height Adjustment
Your Occupational Therapist will advise you of the height the equipment is required to be.

How do you clean this equipment?
The trolley should be cleaned with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent (such as washing up liquid) and hot water.

For your safety
The trolley should only be used for its intended purpose. Leaning heavily to one side of the trolley should be avoided to reduce the risk of the trolley tipping. The trolley should be regularly checked for damage or signs of wear and tear. Do not overfill the trolley as it could become unstable. Avoid walking with the trolley too far out in front of you, which could cause the trolley to tip. Care needs to be taken when the trolley is being pushed over an uneven surface such as a mat or door threshold. The trolley is not suitable if you have a large threshold or steps to negotiate or if you are unable to fully weight bear on both legs.

When you no longer require your equipment, please contact Millbrook Healthcare on 0333 240 8995 to arrange collection.
