The following exercises have been designed to help your injury to heal for the first three weeks. They may be painful to do initially but keep going, as this will help to reduce the pain and improve your movement.
Each exercise needs to be done 10 times each, 3 to 6 times a day. If 10 are too many, start at 6 and build up to 10.
1) Bend and straighten the large knuckle of your hand
Using the splint to support the middle joint of your finger, bend the end joint down and then up as far as it will go
Under no circumstances should the splint be removed unless advised by your Hand Therapist. At all times the middle joint needs to be kept straight; if it is bent it will prevent the healing process.
If you have any problems with these exercises, or are worried in anyway about your hand, please do not hesitate in contacting the department on (01908) 995411or ask your therapist at your next appointment.
